Day 65 & 66 - Passage of the Suez Canal

The night before we anchored to await the queue to enter the canal. We had a little rain this evening as well. In the morning we began through the Suez Canal about 5:30a. There is much to see along the way that was not here on my last trip through in 2011. It was a lovely day. You can read all about the Suez Canal right HERE.

Day 56 - Dubai, United Arab Emirates

We started our day in the Princess Theater… waiting. 7:45a was our appointed time. About 8:15a, our number for the excursion was called. We proceeded to the line inching off the ship. However, it went much better than it did in Singapore. We were constantly moving in line so it went pretty fast. We had a face check and handed over our Passport to the culturally dressed local authorities. We are at a new cruise port that is efficient and modern. There are several convenient shops in the terminal itself where I was able to get postcards and stamps. Surprisingly, there is a small airport runway right next to the cruise port! Off we left for our tour – Easy Dubai – and we had a nice time. Our first stop was the Burj Al Arab Hotel . This 321-meter building is famous for its sail-shaped tower and has often been described as the world's only "seven-star" hotel. Day 4 At Sea

We had a busy day. I started it with a COLD (and quick) shower. Maintenance came and fixed it very soon, it was a burnt out thermostat. After a latte in Good Spirits we headed to the Crooner's Bar to make a lei. We were a little late so we don't have the best leis as the flowers were pretty picked over. Anyway it now decorates our cabin.    Next was the destination talk for Kauai, we only caught the last 15 minutes but the speaker seems to be a good one. Pumped up with more water we took a short lap on deck 7. Not exactly a lap but one area was closed so it was more of a back and forth. It is still a bit cool and windy for a walk up top. We freshened up back at our cabin, then realized our TV was not working, but we called about that later. It simply needed a reset and new batteries in the remote (I think) Anyway, we were off to lunch in the Horizon Court. Day 81 - Civitavecchia, Italy

Most people go to Rome from this port. Since June and I have both been to Rome several times we decided not to go there. She stayed onboard. I explored Civitavecchia a little bit on my own. Since I was too tired to search out Napoli pizza yesterday I found it for lunch today. That with a glass of house red wine was followed by the best lemon sorbeto I've ever had. I t was a nice walk around port, it was a little windy but sunny all day. I managed to find the post office with the directions in Italian given by a shop owner. I felt quite accomplished! Next stop France!
